Eight Down Three To Go

The December tournament is done and we have another first time winner. Darrin Zachary wins after pretty much steam rolling his way through the field. It was a night that started fast as Lan, Rick, and myself got knocked out quite early. Only to be followed shortly there after by Steve, Dale, and Tim. The final three played for quite a while with Darrin knocking off Fletch in the end.
Welcome a new player John Lambrecth to the game for the first time. John came in third. We only had 9 players, I guess because of the holidays etc. Let's try and get a better showing next month.
Three more players are now not able to get enough games in for the final at the end of the year. Steve S., Bob H, and Jerry C,. We also have 3 players who cannot miss any more games, Kirk H, Mike H, and Darrin Z. At this point in time the most we will have at the Final tournament is 12. Two of these not current members who would have to be voted in.
LETS PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDER NOW JAN. 19TH SO WE ALL CAN MAKE IT.

John L 7pts. $50
Tim P 6pts.

DALE WINS AGAIN!!!!!

The November tournament is in the books and Dale becomes the first 2 time winner of the year. The night started with 12 players and as we whiddled it down to 2, it was assured we would have our first 2 time winner of the year as Dale got heads up against Steve, both having 1 win this year. Dale prevailed to not only become the first 2 time winner, but take over a share of the points lead, and to dominate in the money lead.
There will be 2 more players from last year that will not be playing in this years Final Event (Mike W, & Rusty) as they can no longer make 6 tournaments. Take this as a warning for those of you who only have 2 or 3 tournaments so far as there is only 4 left before the Final.
Lets try and get a good turn out in Dec. so we can continue to build the pot.
SEE YOU ALL ON DECEMBER 15TH.

July tournament update

I re posted the photo of the winner for the July game, as the photos got deleted by accident as Steve wasn't sure the photo was appropriate for all to see. The photo was modified so it shouldn't be so offensive.
Feel free to leave your comments if you feel I may have erred in my account as to how things happen or you have a different take. It might be fun to hear some other prospectives, or E-mail myself or Steve if you have a posting you would like to make, and we will see if we can post it.
See you all on the 17th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mikey H Takes Home The Plaster

The October game is done and congratulations go out to Mike Hallengren. After takeing a couple months off, he comes back and kicks butt. We had 15 players, I believe the most ever. Brought my camera and left it on the table and noticed nobody took any pictures (including me) so I have no pictures to prove he won. My favorite player took over the points lead, "ME" from Mike Williams who finally cooled off a little by being the third one out.
Mike Williams brought a couple of new players to the game Jerry, & Darrin. Jerry's not invited back seeing as he took down 2nd place. (I feel it's not right for a new player to finish in the money). 6 players have now qualified for the end of the year tournament by makeing it to all 6 games so far. All these players are in the top 5 for the points lead. Wait a minute, 6 players in the top 5????? somethings wrong here! (6people - 5spots = 1)? Oh, I forgot one of the 6 is Mike Mann (sorry bro couldn't resist)
See you all next month.
1st Mike H. 15pts. $320
2nd Jerry 14pts. $160
3rd Lan C. 13pts. $80

WILLIAMS EXTENDS HIS POINTS LEAD

The September tourny has played and we have another first time winner. Congratulations to Mike Williams whom wins with a 2 outer on the river to claim his first win and to take home the coveted EATONVILLE POKER CLUB TROPHEY while extending his points lead over the rest of us.
We started the night with 2 first time players Jay Hansen, the pharmacist who manages Kirks Sunrise Store, and Jeff Rikitikitambonosawrambo (i just made that last name up as I don't know his last name) a friend of Lan's who played for the first time last month. 12 players started the night, only 8 were EPC members (we need to start seeing a better turn out of the current members). Dale went out on a couple of tough hands where he had sets beaten both times. Bob Homan was the next out. We combined tables and went for ever before we lost any one else. Mike and Lan were trying to outlast each other with $150 each, some kind of side bet or pride thing. Lan won that one. We still had 8 players when the blinds got to $600 and $1200, than we started losing players fairly quick due to the size of the blinds. Steve was so excited about picking up pocket 10's he decided to show every one after I called his pre flop raise with pocket 8's. Flop came 8,5,2 I went all in, he called thinking I was trying to steal. This generated the Loser Photo of Steve. Mike Williams and I got heads up to have Mike pull a Full House with a 4 on the river to bust my set of 5's to send me crying for the rest of the night. Tim cashed, makeing Tim, Dale, and Mike W. all with 3 cashes this year.
The level of play from everyone was really good. As I entered the stats for the month and realized Jeff, Jay, Kirk, & Mike M. were all down at 7 - 10 it surprised me as they all were playing very well. This makes for a more enjoyable night when the level of play is good.
Let's all try and make it on the 20th especially those of you who have not been making it so we can get the pot building. The pot is currently @ $530 with 5 down and 6 to go. You must make 6 of the 11 to qualify for the Finale.
1st MIKE WILLIAMS 12 PTS. $260
2nd RANDY MANN 11 PTS. $130
3rd TIM PATTERSON 10PTS. $60
4th LAN CLARK 9 PTS. $30
5th STEVE COLLINS 8PTS.
6th FLETCH 7PTS.
7th JEFF 6 PTS.
8th JAY HANSEN 5PTS.
9th KIRK HEINZ 4PTS.
10th MIKE MANN

WILLIAMS CAPTURES POINTS LEAD

August is in the books and we have new 1st time points leader. Mike Williams (shown above, very happy after his 3rd place finish) moved into the pt. lead (28 pts.) by 1 pt. over Dale. Dale had a impressive showing by going out on the 3rd hand of the night. He stuck around all night to play a 2nd game only to go out first in that game also.

Congratulations to Tim on getting first place. He started the night out by pulling two flushes out of the river and just continued through the night. Although he played a good game, he has to get the river rat award for the night as just about everyone said (myself included) he ratted them on the river through the night. Kirk got 2nd, (following up a 3rd at the car salesmen night the week before) I believe his highest finish ever. Mike Williams took 3rd, making the third time in 4 months that he finished in the top 4 to pass Dale up in the pts total.

We had 3 first time players this month Lan Clark and his friend Jeff Gillis, Lan Works with Me and Mike. Dale brought his friend Tony, he played 1 of the early games with us last year. We need to consider what we are going to do for new players, being that we seem to be having a problem getting consistant attendance from the 13 from last year.

THE NEXT GAME IS SAT. SEPT. 15 AT FLETCHES POKER PALACE PUT THIS DATE ON YOUR CALENDER AND TRY AND MAKE IT SO WE CAN GET THE POT BUILDING.

SEE YOU THAN!!!

1st Tim 11pts. $270

2nd Kirk 10pts. $120

An Asshole Wins !!!

Congratulations to Steve Collins (AKA asshole) on winning his first tournament of the EPL. This is Steve's first win since we started last year. He was always around the money last year, but just couldn't finish the job. (I know that could be considered a personal problem). Fletch brought down the 2nd place money after getting heads up with Steve. The heads up match was pretty uneventful as Steve busted Dale to get to heads up and had a very comanding chip lead. Fletch doubled up twice, but even then had to keep pretty much going all in as the blinds were quite high by then. Dale once again finished in the money and is walking away with the points total so far.Place Name Pts. Money1 Steve C 9 $2102 Fletch 8 $1003 Dale 7 $504 Mike Hallengrn 65 Rick 5 6 Randy M 4 7 Tim 3 8 Mike W 29 Mike M 1

The Return of WETMORE

Well June is in the books, and we see Dale step back up as a winner. Only had 12 players, we need to get all players out so we can start getting the pot to build. I can't really recap how the final hands went, as Tim (for his final victory last year) and I both brought a bottle. I decided to try and get my fair share and didn't pay too much attention down the stretch.
Welcome Steve Schmidt to the game. He played in his first game and made the money in third place. Tim got first, oh wait a minute I meant to say Tim went out first. I think a saw a few smiles around the room at that time.(that could have been my imagination though) Mike Williams (we have too many Mikes) and Dale got heads up, with Dale slapping Mike around to finally break him. Still haven't seen Kim. Although she missed a couple last year and still won the pts. lead. Steve just got back from Reno after being gone a couple of weeks and wanted to get home to see Momma, we kept him there as long as we could, but as you can see that wasn't too long.
If anyone has other comments or remembers things happening just a little different from the way I've portrayed it feel free to send me or Steve a note so we can get it posted.
NEXT TOURNEY IS JULY 13TH we moved it up a week as people were going to be gone the next two weekends. LET'S ALL TRY AND MAKE IT.

A NEW YEAR

Well here we go with another year of this boreing game we call HOLD-EM. The first monthly tournament was held May 18th with one of my favorite players (ME) taking down the 2006/2007 Champion, Tim (for those of you who have forgotten, look at his wrist!). It came down to the final 3, Tim, Randy Mann, and Dale for the Money. Dale got all-in with poket J's and just got stomped down to size by Randy's ?(hell I can't remember but I kicked his butt). I'ld like to say it was a great Heads up duel that lasted for hours, but I think it was about 15- 20min pretty uneventful thing. The final hand ended with Randy holding a dominating 10/3 offsuit over Tim's 8/3. With Randy coming out on top (why do I always have to have the top)? We all missed Rick, (I think) who missed his first game ever. Steve and Fletch were once again gracious host by being the first 2 out. It didn't seem to bother them much as the were heading straight from the game, to the Airport, to go to Mazatlan. I will post the results and try to remember to bring my camera next month so I can get pictures of the monthly winners.
The next one is JUNE 22nd at Fletches Poker Palace. Lets all try and make it so we can get the pot building.

Photos of the MAIN EVENT

Hi all
Here I go to try and do my first posting on a blog ( I thought a blog was something you got peet moss from). I took a few pictures the other night. I will now attempt to make them materialize on the screen. ( if nothing happens don't blame me it must be the computers fault). I will get all the year end results up as soon as I think I have this thing figured out.

Washington State Law and Poker

Tim brought up an interesting question at last evenings game. Is it legal in Washington state to organize and have poker games at home or elsewhere.

The answer is Yes. As long as no person or establishment gains financially from the conduct of the game it is legal. Its ok to "buy in" and to win monies as long as everyone has the same chances and its not a for profit establishment.

WASHINGTON STATE HOME POKER GAME HOSTS AND PLAYERS - Home poker games are permitted in Washington State as long as professional gambling does not occur. The Washington State criminal code defines professional gambling as occurring when a person pays or accepts a fee to participate in a card game (RCW 9.46.0269). No fees may be charged for arranging, facilitating, organizing, or for operating a card game. Persons who are found to be engaging in Professional Gambling are subject to criminal prosecution pursuant to the Revised Code of Washington criminal statutes. The following criminal statutes may help you determine if your are operating legally.RCW 9.46.220, Professional Gambling First Degree
Any person who operates, manages, or profits from the operation of a premises or location where persons are charged a fee to participate in card games is conducting First Degree Professional Gambling, a class B felony.RCW 9.46.221, Professional Gambling Second Degree
Any person who maintains a “gambling premises,” defined in RCW 9.46.0249 as “any building, room, enclosure, vehicle or other place used or intended to be used for professional gambling,” is conducting Professional Gambling in the Second Degree, a class C felony.RCW 9.46.222, Professional Gambling in the Third Degree
Any person who engages in or knowingly causes, aids, abets, or conspires with another to engage in professional gambling and whose conduct does not constitute first or second degree Professional Gambling is guilty of Professional Gambling in the Third Degree. Professional Gambling in the Third Degree is a gross misdemeanor.RCW 9.46.0269, Professional Gambling
(1) A person is engaged in “professional gambling” for the purposes of this chapter [RCW 9.46] when:
(a) Acting other than as a player or in the manner authorized by this chapter [RCW 9.46], the person knowingly engages in conduct which materially aids any form of gambling activity: or(b) Acting other than in a manner authorized by this chapter [RCW 9.46], the person pays a fee to participate in a card game, contest of chance, lottery, or other gambling activity; or(c) Acting other than as a player or in the manner authorized by this chapter [RCW9.46], the person knowingly accepts or receives money or other property pursuant to an agreement or understanding with any other person whereby he or she participate in the proceeds of gambling activity; or(d) The person engages in bookmaking; or(e) The person conducts a lottery; or(f) The person violates RCW 9.46.039.(2) Conduct under subsection (1)(a) of this section, except as exempted under this chapter [RCW 9.46], includes but not limited to conduct directed toward the creation or establishment of the particular game, contest scheme, device or activity involved, toward establishment of the particular game, contest, scheme, device or activity involved, toward the acquisition or maintenance of premises, paraphernalia, equipment or apparatus therefore, toward the solicitation or inducement of persons to participate therein, toward the actual conduct of the playing phases thereof, toward the arrangement of any of its financial or recording phases, or toward any other phases of its operation. If a person having substantial proprietary or other authoritative control over any premises shall permit the premises to be used with the person’s knowledge for the purpose of conduction gambling activity other than gambling activities authorized by this chapter [RCW 9.46], and acting other than as a player, and the person permits such to occur or continue or makes no effort to prevent its occurrence or continuation, the person shall be considered as being engaged in professional gambling: PROVIDED, That the proprietor of a bowling establishment who awards prizes obtained from player contributions to players successfully knocking down pins upon the contingency of identifiable pins being placed in a specified position or combination of positions, as designated by the posted rules of the bowling establishment, where the proprietor does not participate in the proceeds of the “prize fund” shall not be construed to be engaging in “professional gambling” within the meaning of this chapter: PROVIDED FURTHER, that the books and records of the games shall be open to public inspection.

The First Year

Well folks, the first year is behind us. A good time was had by everyone (some more than others..). Im starting this site so that rather than waiting on an e-mail we can post information and post comments and suggestions to improve our group.
Last night we voted and approved the updated set of rules that guide our club and we played the longest tournament that I have ever participated in. We discussed a few things but tabled them for further discussion. I hope that this site will enable that discussion.
I have certainly enjoyed the group that has become our club. I certainly hope that we can keep this going for years into the future. Ill try to get Randy Mann to post whatever results that get tabulated here, and you will all have the ability to make comments here and say bad thing to and about Tim when the mood strikes you.

Next tournament:

The next tournament will be Apr 21, 2007 @ 8:00 Pm.
The tournament will be held at Randy Fletchers house (If you need directions to his house please contact me)

This tournament will be an Open Tournament. Anyone who is invited by a member can come participate. It will not be part of the regular tournament play. It is an opportunity to meet and induct new members. We have agreed to limt the number of player to 16 for this year. Please invite your "Pledges" the the game in April. The buy in will be the regular $50, and the whole buy in will be vied for in the game (no money set aside to go toward the yearly tournament).

As always, Im sure there is information that I am leaving out. Please feel free to contact me via e-mail hookr23@hotmail.com or call me, (253)732-4555. Please leave us a comment or a suggestion. I look forward to hearing from you all, and good luck,
Steve Collins
